That moment we were overtaken by what just happened. Overtaken by the gift that was just laid in our arms and the responsibility that laid before us. We made a promise not only to our son but his birth mom to love, teach, and raise him up in the Lord. Standing by my husband’s side as tears streamed down his face was a sweet reminder that TOGETHER we were chosen for this precious boy, and there was no one else I would want to share this journey with.
We left the agency 15 minutes later and were so excited to grab lunch and FaceTime our families. At this point our son hadn't even opened his eyes, since he was asleep the whole time we were at the agency. We couldn't wait for him to wake up and see his eyes meeting ours for the first time. These “firsts” were only the start of what was to come. Although we missed the first 12 days of his life, we knew we would make up for it
