We completed our home study and it was sent to the state to approve us to be a waiting family. During this time, we began to work on our profile book and fundraise. As I shared before, adoption does come with a cost, but it's not an impossible cost. We knew that if this was God's will for our family, then He'd provide in ways we could not even imagine. Our first fundraiser was an adoption garage/bake sale. We shared with our family and friends that we would be having this sale to help cover the cost of our adoption and there were a few ways they could help. They could donate items toward the sale, bake items, and also share about our sale with their friends. We spent over a month collecting items, planning, and promoting. On August 10, we held the sale at our house. We had NO idea how many people would come or the support we would receive, but we prayed God would provide for our needs. When people came, we shared our story, why we were adopting, and why we were having this sale. We were overwhelmed by the love and support we received, from even strangers. Our kids did not want to be left out either. They donated many of their toys to "help bring home our baby" and also wanted to run a lemonade stand. They sat by their stand all day and were so proud to hand out baked items and drinks to our visitors. The funny part is, now when we drive by a garage sale our kids think it's because someone is adopting... I wish that was the case 😉 Wouldn't that be amazing? It really was a family event and we were so grateful for all who came! We held one other garage sale a month later at my parents house and were equally as blessed by all those who came out to support us. We were blown away by God through these sales and ended up raising around $6,000 between both. We were left speechless and in awe of how God continued to provide for us and proved His faithfulness once again. I do not share this $ amount with you to be prideful, rather to show you how God will provide in the most amazing ways through adoption when we put our whole trust in Him. NEVER once did we think we would be able to raise that and we didn't, God did. With Full Hands and an Open Heart- Kansas Fergen
