September 10, 2013, we got an email from our social worker saying "Yay! Signed and approved! You are officially a waiting family! Now the hard part starts- the waiting!" That was the truth. All the other details of the adoption really were nothing compared to the waiting, but we had been down this road before and understood how it worked. Trust in God and HIS timing, that is what we clung to. Because we were now an official waiting family, we could begin to apply for grants. We knew that getting approved for grants could often take up to six months so we needed to start as soon as possible. I will never forget standing in our kitchen sealing up the envelopes to get them ready for the mail and asking the boys to pray with me. They understood throughout this entire process that we needed to trust God and hearing their little prayers once again reminded me of God's faithfulness no matter what the outcome was! Over the coming months we continued to pray for our future child and birth family, knowing that our profile book (which is shown to each birth family to help them decide the adoptive family for their child) would be shown to them. We spent the entire summer making our profile book and analyzing it. We wanted it to show EVERYTHING about our lives and what was so important to us. Our book contained a letter to the birth parents, why were were adopting, our love story, information on Danny, myself and our kids, fun facts on our family, pictures of our extended family, home, nursery, pets, community, family moments, hobbies, traditions, and travels. I can't tell you how nerve racking it was wondering what to all include in this little book that was suppose to show our whole life 😳 We just never knew what a birth family would fall in love with, and in return have them choose US!
