After much thought and prayer, on November 27, 2013, we decided to apply with another adoption agency, Christian Adoption Services, out of North Carolina in hopes that our profile book would be shown to more birth families, especially African American families (as this was our preference.) CAS was a partnering agency with our agency and they had a great working relationship. Doing this would give us the opportunity to be shown to more birth families in hopes of meeting our little one sooner. We were so excited to be working with two agencies that not only cared about our family and future child, but also for the birth family as they went through this process.
During these months, we began to hear back from some of the grant agencies and were so thankful to find out that we would be receiving some financial assistance for not only our adoption but our travel expenses, if needed. This was a HUGE answer to prayer and made adoption so much more feasible for our family. Once again, we were reminded of God's faithfulness and provision every step of the way.
Every month that went by, the kids (and us) grew even more excited and waited anxiously to hear news from our agencies. On December 27, 2013, exactly one month after applying with CAS, I was at my parents’ house helping my mom set up for our family Christmas party and I got a call on my phone from Danny. I quickly answered and all I heard him say was, "are you sitting down?" That was all I needed to hear and I burst into tears. This was the call I had been waiting for!!
(Writing this all over again brings me to tears. That's why sometimes it takes me a bit to get through these posts. Each word brings back so many memories and emotions! God is SO good and we are so thankful for His work in our lives!)
