Our call on Monday went AMAZING and the birth mother, Shinara, told us that she knew 100% that we were the parents for her son and she felt such a peace with her decision. We enjoyed our conversation and loved getting to know her. We also loved sharing our hearts and the story of our family with her. God really led the conversation and we were so grateful for that. We were so anxious to meet her and our son.
That Thursday, we flew out to North Carolina so we could meet them on Friday. We knew although Shinara chose us, it would still be a hard day for her, as she placed her son in our arms. We loved her already and promised to be there to support her through this. She would forever be a part of our lives and family.
This was the last picture we took as a family of five before we flew to NC. The kids begged to go along, but my sweet sister offered to stay at our house and watch them and we knew this would give us more one-on-one time to bond with our new son. We couldn't wait for the kids to meet their new brother when we returned! In less than 24 hours we would be holding our son for the first time, and that excitement I can't even put into words.
Hi, I'm Kansas! I wish we could be doing this face to face over coffee. Maybe someday, till then this will have to do!
