We spent the next 4 days feeding, changing and getting little sleep, but we loved it! The best part about not having our 3 other kids with us, was being able to sleep in. Who doesn't love snuggling a sleeping baby?
We made several trips to Baby's R Us and Target, went on dates, tried new restaurants, and spent time with our host family. During this time we were waiting to get a call saying we had state clearance and were able to book our flight home. We loved our time in NC, but missed our kids greatly and couldn't wait to get home and be a family of 6!! We really enjoyed the quiet moments at the house being able to relax and experience the "firsts" with Jerik. He LOVED bath time, loved babbling with Daddy, loved getting dressed up (okay, maybe I just liked doing that part) and LOVED sleeping in bed with us. The days flew by and the fact that we were his parents felt SO real. God had chosen us and this was not a dream. Danny and I spent many hours talking about how we were in awe of how God worked through our adoption and taught us to trust in Him. I can honestly say that my faith was made stronger during that year knowing that God had a plan in store for our family and I needed to fully trust Him through it all. Adopting Jerik was an answer to prayer and being able to share this with Danny was so special. He stood by my side on the good and bad days and there is no one else I would rather share life with. He's an amazing Daddy and watching him with Jerik reminded me once again how lucky I was to have him as the father of my kids.
