THE CALL. June 20, 2008. The call that made our hearts stop. It still brings tears to our eyes. It's the day we became parents. It's the day we heard "You have been chosen to be the adoptive parents to a 9 month old baby boy from Texas, if you decide to say yes." (Yes? Is that even a question?!) We knew the second our agency's number showed up on our phone, this call meant something. It took us zero seconds to know we were going to say yes, but we did take a few minutes to pray together and soak up the moment before calling our agency back. It’s a moment we’ll never forget. Holding each other, sobbing tears of joy, as all our dreams were coming true. We could not get to Texas fast enough. Within 20 minutes we got an email with ALL his information along with the most adorable picture we had ever seen. THIS was OUR son. The hardest part, since it was the weekend, we had to wait four days until we could travel, so they could get all the paperwork in place before our arrival. It felt like the LONGEST four days of our lives!! How could they tell us we had a son and then expect us to wait four days to see him. He was already born, nine months old, and waiting for us... it was torture. We had no choice, so instead we went crazy packing and got everything ready at home. Of course this included returning some newborn clothes we had already purchased and returned them for size 9-12 months. NEVER, did we think we would have to do that. It all felt like a dream, but the best dream ever! June 23 we started our drive out to Texas, full of every kind of emotion possible, and we couldn't wait!
